Day 1
Arusha/Moshi → Rongai Gate → Simba Camp
✔ Pick-up from hotel in Arusha or Moshi early in the morning.
✔ Drive to Rongai Gate.
✔ Trek through forest and grassland to Simba Camp.
✔ Overnight: Simba Camp
✔ Hiking time: ~3–4 hrs
✔ Trek across rolling highland plains and alpine terrain to Kikelewa Camp.
✔ A steady climb through isolated wilderness.
✔ Overnight: Kikelewa Camp
✔ Hiking time: ~5–6 hrs
Second Cave → Kikelewa Camp
Day 3
✔ Ascend toward the dramatic slopes of Mawenzi Peak.
✔ Enjoy panoramic views as the landscape becomes more alpine.
✔ Overnight: Mawenzi Tarn Camp
✔ Hiking time: ~5–7 hrs
Kikelewa → Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Day 4
✔ Ascend through open moorland with views toward
✔ Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes.
✔ The trail remains gently graded to help with acclimatization.
✔ Overnight: Second Cave Camp
✔ Hiking time: ~5–6 hrs
Simba Camp → Second Cave Camp
Day 2
Day 5
Mawenzi Tarn → Kibo → Uhuru Peak → Horombo Gate
✔ Early departure (around midnight) for the summit push to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).
✔ After sunrise at the summit, descend to Horombo Gate via Kibo.
✔ Hiking time: Long day — ~12–14 hrs
✔ Overnight: At or near Horombo Gate (camp)
Day 6
Horombo Gate → Marangu Gate → Arusha/Moshi
✔ Final descent through forest to the trailhead.
✔ Transfer back to Arusha or Moshi where certificates are presented.
✔ Hiking time: ~4–6 hrs
